I know what number 7 is!

More years ago than I'll actually admit to I was in Mr. Martin's IB History Class. Part of the material covered was Women's Oppression. As part of that unit he presented us with The Twelve Avenues of Bliss.

We also watched A Room with A View with Helena Bonham Carter - it's still a favorite of mine. Don't watch the new BBC one it has the WRONG ending. There is NO WAY George would have gone off to be in a war!

So back to 11th grade, Mr. Martin didn't have Avenue #7 and we had several discussions about what it was. For the IE we wrote our own version for the 90's and #7 was not a family appropriate idea. MyZanne and I were recently discussing the fact that she would love to have a set of the Avenues for her history classes so I went searching and I bought her a full set on ebay!

Here they are...
(click to read the sayings they are very Victorian/Edwardian)

and number 7 is about ... clothing & dress ...

Hmmm that's not nearly as interesting as what we came up with!

Whoa! That is crazy! (And pretty cool, really.) If he hadn't retired, I'd say you should send him the pics. As is, I wouldn't know how to find him.
