Report Card Day

I'm down $15. Yes, my kids do get bribed to earn straight A's. Fred is the only one that has ever come close to not getting it. She had a 90% at the end of last year in Math.

George - doesn't get a real report card just a list of letters & numbers she recognizes/writes/knows the sound of/can count. The paper says she couldn't write the numbers 1, 2, 3 & 7. I asked George why Teacher Barbie thought she couldn't write those numbers thinking the answer would be I was too tired (no really it happens), I don't remember, it was too hard, they confused me, or something along those lines. She very candidly said "I don't know, she's crazy, I can write those numbers." We had a little chat about how it wasn't okay to call her teacher crazy and that maybe she just needed more practice with them.

She also can't rhyme or do segmentation. I knew she couldn't rhyme, it's really hard for her to hear it for some reason. Segmentation is breaking words into their separate sounds.

Jr. got all A's. Her teacher, ColtFan, loves her and thinks she's super great. ColtFan surprised me by saying how great she is at reading. I know she can do it but getting her to do it at home and at grade level can be a chore. Jr. got 100% in Social Studies. I think she should get an extra dollar for that.

Fred got all A's. Her teacher Mrs. loves her and thinks she's super great. Mrs. surprised me by saying how great she is at Math. She still fights me on basic math facts but despite that she got a 97%. Her Gate teacher loves her and thinks she's super great. He did however give her an S for written communication, not an E and I'm kind of curious why, she writes fabulously.

Basically I have 3 little smarty pants that everyone loves. We'll find out anything else in Dec. at Parent Teacher conferences.

The LLT Lunch Fiasco

ElCid joined LLT in Dec. of 2000. Fred was 8 months old. We attended the Christmas Party the weekend before ElCid started work. We missed the Thanksgiving Lunch that year and I didn't realize back then just how lucky I was.

Don't get me wrong, the food is good, it's well organized and I'm sure some of the people who work there look forward to it every year. I don't and here's why -

2001 - Fred was 1 & 1/2 and Jr. was 6 weeks old. It was a nightmare. Fred was running all over, whiny and uncharacteristically Jr. spit up all over me.

2002 - Fred and Jr. behaved just fine running and whining fully expected this time around so it wasn't a surprise. My Extra Kid was also in attendance, quite characteristically he puked all over.

2003 - Fred, Jr & My Extra Kid did the required whining, running, complaining thing. Fred decided halfway through the lunch she wanted some butter from the middle of the table and dumped her soda all over herself and the entire table.

2004 - Fred had school that morning and George was making her debut at the office so I had 4 kids I was trying to corral as well as whatever our donation was that year. I got to the office a few minutes late, it was all locked up for the lunch and I needed help getting inside. I tried to call ElCid on his cell, no answer. I tried to call the office # and just got the recording that says Hi we're having lunch so call us back in an hour. At this point the 3 oldest are whining, running and complaining loudly. I finally get a hold of ElCid and we get in. My Extra Kid dumps his cup all over himself this year.

2005 - Fred is in Kindergarten and has AM school as well as Jr has AM pre-K that day. After running all over to gather people we get to the office in the nick of time. The kids are pretty much into the habit by now so there is slightly less whining this year. George pukes on me.

2006 - Fred is in all day school! I am down one kid! Jr. has AM pre-K and My Extra Kid has PM K. We scoop up Jr. and go. We stay for 30 minutes and then rush My Extra Kid to K. No one barfed that year, we weren't there long enough!

2007 - Fred is in all day school, My Extra Kid is in all day school! Two kids down! Jr. has AM K and after grabbing her we get there, have lunch and Jr. decides to drown her self and her sister with fruit punch during dessert.

2008 - Fred is in all day school, My Extra Kid is in all day school, Jr is in all day school! Three kids down! Things should have been better but weren't. The short version is, George barfed.

2009 - Hey, that's today. It was just George and I and 2 pies who went to lunch. Cherry Crunch pie (& Pumpkin but that's not part of the story). Cherry Pie George wanted to eat for breakfast and was told no it's for lunch and had a fit over. Cherry Pie George thought she got to eat once her butt hit the seat in the car and was told no, not until later and had a fit over. Cherry Pie George thought she got to have just as soon as we got to the office and was told no you have to wait for prayer and whined and lolled in my lap and complained loudly about waiting. Cherry Pie she FINALLY got a piece of only to discover it had been desecrated by the gravy and had a fit over. On the way out she did happily remark that she hadn't puked and wasn't that great?

2010 - I better not get in a car accident on the way. Now I just jinxed myself.

We survived night #1

We made it through one night of whining and crying and hopefully we can figure out something different for tonight so we will have less puppy drama. No he is NOT sleeping in some one's room! He was pretty good today only a few accidents off the newspaper and he went outside a couple times. How long is this going to take?

He was a little bit more playful today and George is teaching him how to fetch. It's super cute to watch! She throws the toy and he watches her. She tries to coax him into going after it. She goes over and picks it up. She brings it back to him, he sniffs at it and bites it a little. She tells him what a good boy he is!

I have a million things to get done tomorrow, hopefully he will be okay when the playmates are off at school!

Fact or Fiction?

Since I've already received one astonished phone call I figured I'd make it official. Yes, we have a dog. Yes, it is ours. Yes, it will live at our house for an unknown amount of time, most likely 12 - 18 years. Are Peter and the girls excited. Definitely. Am I excited? No. Will I get there? We'll see.

He is a pure bred Lhasa Apso. He is AKC registered. He has hair. Supposedly he won't shed all over my life, my business and house.

His name is Marshmallow Snowflake. Why Marshmallow? Because he looks like a burnt marshmallow. Why Snowflake? Not sure Jr. picked that part out.

He's cute and hopefully he will be a great family pet!

This certainly didn't happen because of all the great acting.

Okay I was there but seriously to make these kinds of numbers it certainly took a lot of people without ______________ (fill in the blank) and I'm kind of ... sad to say I was one of them, I've never been one to follow the crowd!

I even moved the article here so you don't have to click ...

New Moon Breaks Harry Potter & Dark Knight

Let the games begin! The Twilight Saga: New Moon was hand delivered to eager fans last night at 12:01am. Hundreds of thousands of Twilight fans came out to support the midnight opening of the film, helping the movie break one of the hardest records ever set in cinematic history. All the hard work is done; the press tour wrapped in NYC last night and all the actors and Summit Entertainment have to do is sit back and count their cash as it comes pouring in. Do you think you can guess how much New Moon made last night on opening night?

Whenever one talks about major box office weekends Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince and The Dark Knight come up. These two films are the ones to beat and reports are coming in saying The Twilight Saga: New Moon beat those records last night. On July 18, 2008, The Dark Knight opened, setting an all new midnight record at $18.4M and just this past July 15th, Harry Potter opened to an astonishing $22.2M. The bar has been set pretty high, but many studios feel that New Moon surpassed those numbers last night when it opened to 3,514 theaters.

The magic number that is being thrown around today is $23M-$24M. Hollywood guru Nikki Finke updated fans on Deadline.com, "Rival studios are telling me this morning that Summit Entertainment's New Moon debuted with $23M-$24M in 12:01AM screenings." If this is true, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Launter have helped Summit Entertainment break all records and landed the number one spot on opening night. Guess the Holy Trinity is in for big time bonuses, huh? Stick around this weekend as we track New Moon at the box office and see what other records Summit's prodigy can break. How many times are you planning on seeing New Moon this weekend?

Update: Summit Entertainment just announced its New Moon debuted with $26.27M in 12:01AM screenings from 3,514 theaters.

Wow, a lot of 13 yr olds were tired today!

One of those people

Yes I am one of those people who will be seeing New Moon at midnight. I promise I will not however be one of those people that write about it, blab about it, or ruin it (cause that could happen?), for others. Unless you ask, then I will let you know just how awful and disastrous it was.

So when are you going to see it?
Or are you conserving brain cells and are going to avoid it like the plague it is?

Another Monday

Sometimes I just want Sundays to be a few hours longer. I don't work, I don't clean... much, I get to play with my kids and be cozy with ElCid without having to feel guilty that I'm supposed to be 10 other places doing 10 other things.

Tomorrow I'm helping Teacher Barbie for an hour with testing and I'm finishing Alice. Along with that there will be breakfast, carpool, lunch, write agenda, dance class, dinner, homework, PTSO meeting, dishes, laundry, and hopefully a shower in there somewhere.

For right now I can hope maybe tomorrow won't come so fast but when it does there will only be 6 more days to slog through until next Sunday.
