Lord of the Rings

I have to admit I didn't read these until I had seen the movies. I am not as bothered by the changes made because I had no preconceived notions about the movies. It doesn't make sense to me either. I did like the books better. Especially Return of the King. Aragorn is such a more developed character and is so much more deserving of his title when you read the book.

As long as I can remember my mom had a set of these books that had the maps in light green on the outside. There are phrases that have been in my life forever such as "My Precious" and "What has it got in it's pocketses". Names like Gollum and Smeagol were nothing new to me when the movies came out. My brother read these books as well when I was young so I know all sorts of useless trivia about them. Like Tolkein wanted to make up a language (elven) that would actually work so he wrote the story to support his language.

I really enjoy fantasy/sci-fi in medium size doses and this is an entertaining way to get it.

Sorry, no picture. I couldn't find one I liked.

What HAS it got in its pocketses, my precious?

The Two Towers will always be my least favorite... it just drug on and on and on thru the dismal wastelands Sam and Frodo were traversing ;-Þ And Return of the King is indeed the best ;-}

There are always people who dislike the middle book of any trilogy, but I loved them all! The second book is just guiding you to the last.

BTW, you really couldn't find a picture of those hot movie stars that you liked?!Hmmmm
